SSBP
SPONSORSHIP

Our inaugural symposium in 1990 was made possible by sponsorship from parent groups and from: The Nuffield Foundation; The Wellcome Trust; The King€™s Fund and The Royal Society for Mentally Handicapped Children and Adults (MENCAP).
In recent years, meetings have received sponsorship from: The Mercer's Company, The Haberdasher's Company; The David Solomon Trust; Merck, Sharpe and Dohme; Nestle UK, Janssen Pharmaceuticals Ltd, SmithKline Beecham, Wyeth, and Bencard.

In 1999, the Birmingham meeting was generously sponsored by the Williams Syndrome Foundation, one of the Society's affiliated group members and in 2000 the SSBP travelled to the beautiful city of Venice where our meeting was held at the Venice International University on the island of San Servolo. The society is very grateful for the University's generous support and also for the support of the International School of Neurological Sciences.

Eynesham Hall, Oxford, was the venue for our 9th Annual Scientific Meeting in 2001. The Society was extremely grateful to the Tuberous Sclerosis Association for their very generous sponsorship of theis meeting which was focused around tuberous sclerosis and in  2002 our meeting in was held in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada was generously supported and sponsored by the British Columbia Children's Hospital Foundation, Shire Canada and Pfizer Canada. We are also grateful for the support provided by the departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry.

Since then we have had meetings in Newcastle, Barcelona, Cairns in Australia, a return trip to Dublin in 2006 and a very successful meeting in California at both the MIND Institute Sacramento and Squaw Creek, Lake Tahoe.

None of our meetings would be possible without the very generous support of a variety of sponsors and the Society wishes to thank all those who contribute to our meetings. Including Pfizer, Neuropharm, Kimball Genetics, The MIND Institute, The International Fragile X Association, Abbot Laboratories, Johnny Hon and several individuals who wish to remain annonymous.

We continue to seek sponsorship to underwrite both the international and scientific meetings, and without this generous support it would be impossible to mount these meetings at affordable prices. Our day-to-day activities are financed by a modest membership fee and by profits from these meetings.
